Audio: A visit with one of China's largest fish farmers

Posted April 6, 2015 by Ken Anderson,  Brownfield, Ag News for America

The aquaculture industry—fish-farming—has seen rapid growth in China. And that has helped increase China’s demand for soybean meal. Feed rations for farm-raised fish can contain from 10 to 30 percent soymeal, depending on the type of fish and their stage of growth.

During the recent Iowa Soybean Association trade mission to China we had the opportunity to interview Kunming Zhu, chairman of Heyuan Heshun Agricultural Company, one of the largest producers of farm-raised fish in China. Through an interpreter, Zhu talked about the expansion of fish farming in China and why the Chinese people are incorporating more fish into their diets.
